Dwars door Drenthe
The Dwaars Dors van Drenthe was really fast race! With an average speed of 42km/h over 5hours we had some 30 minute periods during the race were the 55km/h was obligatory...
Still it was not as hard as I thought it could be. There was a lot of side wind from the beginning untill the finishline but apart from one time when Rabobank forced the speed, it was not as dangerause to get dropped by the sidewind as I expected it to be.
The Leopards did a good race but had some bad luck with our Italian Sprinter beeing dropped from the peloton twice. One time because of an empty DI2 battery, the second time because of a puncture... To my astonishment he managed it both times to come back in the pelloton and placed himself in the front.
The number of riders in the pelloton was decreasing more and more especially when we hit the 150k’s mark. The „garbage hill“ – yes, a hill made out of garbage – was to cilmb three times, than we made a lap to the finishline and turned back for a fourth’ time. After the last time we were a group of 80 rider, the rest has been dropped.
We were a little bit confused when we reentered the city with the finishline and everybody started to move to the front. In our oppinion, we still had to do one last lap in this city.
Race conclusion was an eleventh place for Brambo without even sprinting...
I was completely done after the race. Not because of the intensity, more because of the length. 205 with this speed is not that easy to deal with.
